educate --> emulate --> empower --> WoRd4u Youth Initiative

About Us

WoRd! started on 5th October 2005 by Samuel ‘Passion’ Abiola. Young people gathered together on a weekly basis to talk about life generally and resolve issues all in a very social atmosphere. Over the years we have evolved as an outreach project to help all young people regardless of their background, religious beliefs or upbringings. We promote an atmosphere of inclusion and non-intimidation. You'll find us extremely friendly, non-judgemental and approachable.

One of our captions is “Let’s Talk About It”, as this expresses our desire to work out together some of the underlying issues that are destroying today’s generation, be it domestic violence, drug abuse, prostitution, child abuse, dysfunctional homes, knife & gun crime, etc.

We currently run weekly sessions on Wednesdays, from 6pm – 8pm, at Glory Divine Christian Centre, with young people between the ages of 11 to 18 in attendance. 'WoRd! on Wednesdays' (WoW!) are weekly sessions comprising of group mentoring, discussion forums, creative workshops and media presentations based on youth-related issues, life skills and community development. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” (Hosea 4:6) is a popular biblical quote which encapsulates our motivation in using knowledge as a means of empowering young people. We also organise “hang-out” sessions, games and film nights as well as various excursions. Click here for more info...
